Carnival Elation Cruise Review: Bahamas Getaway from Jacksonville

Nothing beats being aboard the Carnival Elation out of Jacksonville, Florida, at night. The ship is surrounded by total darkness, glowing beautifully against the open sea with only its own lights illuminating the decks.

As Carnival’s smallest ship sailing from Jacksonville, the 28-year-old Elation (built in 1998) offers relaxing 4- and 5-night cruises to the Bahamas.

The ship accommodates up to 2,190 guests, with a maximum capacity of 2,697 passengers and a crew of approximately 900. There’s no shortage of fun activities, including games, comedy shows, the casino, Cherry’s on Top (the onboard candy store), and plenty of live entertainment.

One of the most relaxing experiences is simply sitting back with a drink or two, listening to music, meeting new people, and hearing the waves gently crash against the side of the ship — all while your boss is nowhere in sight.

Having a balcony cabin makes it even better when you want some peaceful alone time. You can soak in stunning ocean views, breathtaking sunsets, and beautiful sunrises right from your own private space. Movies are also available to watch in your cabin anytime.

When it comes to food, my absolute favorite spot is Guy’s Burger Joint on the Lido Deck. Nothing beats those juicy, made-to-order burgers — and they’re all-you-can-eat! The ship also offers a wide variety of dining options, from the buffet and pizza to sit-down restaurants. Unlimited juice, tea, and coffee are included, but other drinks (including soda) require payment unless you purchase a drink package.

If you’re a first-time cruiser, be warned — you’ll get completely hooked and spoiled. It’s hard to go back home to face bills and work after experiencing this. The cruise truly takes you away from everyday reality. I’ve been on six cruises so far and I still can’t wait to go back. It’s never boring!

I prefer sailing in the spring when the seas are calmer, before hurricane season begins. My very first cruise was on the Carnival Glory, and we ended up racing ahead of a hurricane. The ship was moving at full speed, and the captain did an excellent job handling the rough seas and big waves. That’s why I always recommend cruising from spring through early summer.

Aboard the Carnival Elation, every moment comes with a view worth remembering. From golden sunrises that slowly light up the horizon to fiery sunsets that melt into the ocean, the scenery is nothing short of breathtaking. No matter where you are on the ship, you’re surrounded by endless ocean views that make every glance feel like a postcard come to life. Here are some photos capturing just a glimpse of the beauty you’ll experience out at sea.

Carnival Island Celebration Key

Get ready to experience Celebration Key, Carnival Cruise Line’s very own private island paradise—packed with energy, sunshine, and nonstop fun.

Step onto the island and you’re instantly surrounded by vibrant shops, delicious dining spots, and a lively atmosphere that feels like a celebration from the moment you arrive. The beach stretches wide with crystal-clear water, but don’t expect it to stay calm—rolling waves bring a bit of excitement, perfect if you love floating, splashing, or just soaking up the sun while the ocean moves around you.

If you’re craving something more laid-back, the island’s long, sparkling pool offers a different kind of escape. Here’s the highlight: a swing bar where you can literally sit on a swing, sip your favorite drink, and relax in style—it’s as fun as it sounds.

As you explore, you’ll find plenty of shops to browse and no shortage of places to grab a bite. And just when you think it can’t get more lively, a marching band rolls through, filling the air with music and bringing the whole island to life.

Celebration Key isn’t just a stop—it’s an experience that mixes chill beach vibes with bursts of energy, making it perfect whether you want to unwind or dive into the fun.
